St. Francis Cathedral is a major landmark in the Santa Fe Plaza area and dates back to the 1870s, with construction lasting over 15 years. Featuring dominating architecture, many intricate period features, stained-glass windows and important religious items, the cathedral hosts a number of major events and processions throughout the year.

Running between Santa Fe and Lamy, the world-famous historic Santa Fe Southern Railway is a charming and relaxing attraction that affords breathtaking views of the Santa Fe plateau and Galisteo Basin. The round trip is 36 miles / 58 km and takes 2 hours, 30 minutes, while there are shorter trips that just cover the most scenic sections of the line. The journey starts from the famed Santa Fe Depot, restored in 1909.

Built in 1873, Santa Fe's fabulous Gothic Loretto Chapel is famed for its 'Miraculous Staircase', rumored to have been built by St. Joseph himself. The church was designed based on Paris' Sainte-Chapelle and the structure is a delight to behold from both the exterior and the interior. In the chapel grounds is a small museum dedicated to the history of the chapel, and there is also a shop selling various gifts and souvenirs.
